Electronica 2024: Showcasing Advanced Radar Solutions and Innovations

About Electronica

Electronica is the world’s leading trade fair for electronics taking place from November 12 to 15, 2024 in Munich. Known for setting the stage for groundbreaking technologies, Electronica attracts industry leaders, innovators and enthusiasts from around the globe to explore the latest developments in electronic systems and solutions. Covering a wide range of sectors including automotive, communications, IoT, industrial electronics and smart home technology. The event offers unparalleled opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing and collaboration.

As a premier showcase of high-frequency technology this fair is the perfect platform for us to present our advanced radar solutions, particularly in light of the increasing demand for reliable, high-performance radar modules. This year visitors are invited to explore our products and solutions at Hall B3, Booth 517 where we will unveil a range of innovative new developments alongside our existing product lineup.

RFbeam Exhibition Highlights

V-LD3 and V-LD3 Eval

V-LD3
V-LD3-EVAL

61GHz FMCW Person Tracking Sensor

This compact, advanced 61GHz FMCW sensor is built on TI’s IWRL6432 chipset, delivering exceptional precision in person-tracking applications. The sensor has integrated PCB antennas providing an 80°x34° field of view (FoV). They are optimized for a frequency range from 57-61GHz, facilitating CE/FCC certification with the same RF settings. Pre-programmed and calibrated it requires minimal setup, making it an ideal choice for seamless integration.

This tiny 20x25mm sensor, compatible with Texas Instruments’ low-power SDK is designed to enhance person tracking in compact systems such as door opening and smart home devices, security systems or industrial applications.

Rear Bike Radar

Rear Bike Radar 2

24GHz FMCW Radar for Cyclist Safety

This radar showcase leverages FMCW technology to detect vehicles up to 140 meters away at speeds of up to 120 km/h, with the capacity to track up to 8 objects simultaneously. It can detect both approaching and receding vehicles, providing not only speed and distance information but also the angle to each object, offering a substantial safety advantage.

These features make this radar ideal for applications such as a rear bike light that can detect approaching cars and alert the rider. Its ability to detect receding objects also supports front radar applications like automatic light control.

Super Resolution Line Sensor

Super Resolution Line Sensor

A Lidar Alternative with High Spatial Resolution

This 77 GHz radar sensor introduces groundbreaking         line-scanning capability with 96 virtual MIMO channels, delivering a dense point cloud and an impressive 1° spatial resolution. With a detection range of 0.4 to 200 meters and a fine range resolution of 10 cm, this sensor captures even small objects with remarkable clarity.

A robust alternative to Lidar, this sensor is ideal for autonomous vehicles and robots, where multi-target detection and high resolution are critical for effective obstacle avoidance.

RF Lens Visualizer

RF Lens Visualizer

Real-Time RF Radiation Visualization Tool

RFbeam will showcase a 61 GHz RF lens visualizer that provides real-time visualization of RF radiation patterns using 400 RF measurement pixels based on the V-LD1 sensor. RGB LEDs indicate signal strength levels, making it easy to evaluate different lens designs.

Stop by for an impressive demonstration of what can be achieved at higher frequencies with plastic focusing lenses made from simple ABS or high-performance Rogers Radix 2.8 materials.

X-band Drone Detection

X-Band Drone Detection

10GHz Radar with AI-Powered Drone Identification

This 10GHz radar showcase is tailored for drone detection capable of tracking DJI Mavic-sized drones up to 1 km away. It provides 360° coverage without requiring moving parts and features GPU processing with an Ethernet interface. Enhanced AI algorithms improve object classification, distinguishing drones from other objects in real time.

Its robust design makes this radar suitable for applications in airport security, critical infrastructure protection and event security, where comprehensive aerial surveillance is essential.

Surface Velocity Radar
